Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is a very good game, there is no doubt about this. Crystal Dynamics made a good game for PS3 and on PS4 received solid lift. But it doesn't justify high price of the game. If you haven't played it yet - you can wait for a price drop and buy it.

The first week of sales for Crystal Dynamics re-release of last year's Tomb Raider, now known as the Definitive Edition, has garnered them quite the sales for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, the PlayStation 4 boasted a much higher margin of sales over its eighth-gen x86 compatriot.

The game has been beefed up in almost every way. Crystal Dynamics has spent a good chunk of time reworking everything from the basic level art to characters and poly count. They completely upgraded Laras player model (which slightly changed her face for better or worse).

Richard Bailey Jr. of TheKoalition writes:
Last March, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics teamed up to release one of the most anticipated reboots of the year when they decided to explore the emotionally gripping origin story of a popular female English archaeologist by the name of Lara Croft. Tomb Raider was deemed a critical success and eventually went on to receive numerous accolades from several prestigious gaming publications throughout the world.

"Fast forward to January 2014 when Crystal Dynamics has updated this already incredible title and re-released it for the next generation of gaming. Do improved graphics, the inclusion of DLC, and bonus content justify yet another $60 purchase?" - Travis Tucker

JPS Writes: "Tomb Raider made its gaming debut in 1996 across multiple platforms, but grew to prominence on the Sony PlayStation. The series grew over time, leading to two major motion pictures starring Angelina Jolie. After a while, most of the Tomb Raider games began to fall in quality, and lost a good portion of the fan base. However, that interest was sparked once again when a reboot of the franchise was announced as coming from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix. We absolutely adored this game upon release, even naming it our favorite action adventure game of 2013, which was a pretty competitive category. As a result, we were extremely excited when Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was announced at VGX 2013 last month for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4."

Last year, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix combined to release one of the best games of the last generation. Said title was, of course, Tomb Raider, which marked an attempt by the companies to bring the formerly great series and its iconic heroine back to the forefront of gamers minds. As we all know, their decision to go back to the busty explorers roots and re-tell her origins story proved to be a good one, as it resulted in both acclaim and awards, including Game of the Year contention.
